Connect to the M6Bone network

Monday April 5th, 2004.

1. Be aware of the topology of the network

The topology article recalls the different protocols implemented in the m6bone and the global connection schemes.

2. Find a site to peer with

The sites and maps section recalls the different connected sites at that time. You can connect to Renater’s central router. If you know a site that can offer you IPv6 multicast transit, you can directly contact this site to connect. Remember that it is very important to keep an IPv6 multicast topology very close to the unicast one in order to improve performance. Be aware that we would like in any case your connection form to be able to accept your routes on our router.

3. Design your IPv6 multicast network

Choose the part of your network that will manage IPv6 multicast and choose the prefixes that you will advertise in M6Bone.

4. Setup your IPv6 multicast router

The routers section recalls the possible routers that you can use at that time and contains help for configuration.

5. Setup IPv6 multicast workstations

The Stacks and IPv6 multicast section will help you to configure your workstations. There you will find the different OS you can use, how to configure audio and video, and how to install and use IPv6 multicast tools.

6. Fill in the connection form below

In case you want to connect and find no IPv6 multicast peer. RENATER is happy to provide you with test IPv6 multicast connectivity. Just fill in the connection form below and send it to m6bone-team@renater.fr and you’ll get connected.
